Race rules & Policies
Before registering and participating in any of our events, you must agree to our race rules and policies as stated on this page.
Please be courteous, kind and show good sportsmanship to your fellow runners, volunteers and staff. We’re all out here to enjoy this beautiful environment and have fun. We believe character is just as important as competition, so we expect our athletes to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the culture and values that attracted us all to running in the first place.
Cancellation
Policies
No refunds will be given for any reason, no exceptions. Transfer of a race registration to another runner is not allowed, no exceptions. We do not offer deferrals to the next year. If you cannot make a race, please see the withdrawal policy.
If we need to cancel
Sometimes a race needs to be canceled due to mother nature, COVID, etc, because it is unsafe for participants, volunteers, and staff. In this event, ATA will first attempt to reschedule the race. If this isn’t possible, race credits and partial refund options will be determined at that time.
Withdrawal Policy
Withdrawing from a race ahead of time will allow you to recover part of your registration fee in the form of a credit to a future race, to be used within one year of the cancellation. The credit is based on when the withdrawal is made as measured from race day:
60+ days before race day: 50% refund on race entry and 100% on merchandise
<60 days before race day: no refunds
Withdrawing needs to be completed via your UltraSignUp account in order to get your credit. You do this by going into your registration history and clicking on your race confirmation number. This location will give you options for editing your race. If there is no option for editing, this means registration is closed and you can no longer withdraw via UltraSignUp. All Terrain Adventures cannot do this for you and credits cannot be applied retroactively.
Transferring Distances
A participant may transfer distances within the same event using their UltraSignUp account. Transferring to a less expensive distance will not result in a refund of the difference. Upgrading to a more expensive distance will require payment of the difference in cost to UltraSignUp.
Transferring race distances during the race is not allowed. This must be completed prior to the race.
Drop Bags
If a drop bag is not picked up at the end of a race, a participant can choose to have it mailed to them for the cost of the shipping fees. A participant may alternatively choose to have the bag and it’s contents discarded or donated.
Merchandise Purchases
Shirts, hats, etc must be picked up at race day packet pick-up or registration. Items that are not picked up will be forfeited and re-sold.
Dogs
Each race is different. Please check the specific race page for rules on dogs.
Headphones
Headphones are allowed, but only in one ear. Bone conducting headphones are allowed. Many of our races spend time on the highway, roads, or tight single track trail and you need to the ability to hear and communicate for safety and courtesy.
Aid Stations
You must check-in with aid stations. We track bib numbers to make sure everyone is accounted for. Please make sure the Aid Station Volunteers catch your number as you run by.
If you are going to drop from a race, it must be done at an Aid Station. You must notify the Aid Station Captain.
Cut-Offs
Please follow cut-off rules. The course markings are picked up by our sweepers following the last runner. People on the trail after this run the risk of getting lost and putting our business and race permits on the line. These times are put in place for your safety and to allow our staff and volunteers to be finished in a reasonable timeline.
Going-Off Course
If a runner goes off-course, the runner must return to the spot they went off course and run from there or be considered a DNF. The runner may run or ride in a vehicle back to this spot.
Cups
Our races are cupless. This is to limit the race’s footprint on the natural environment. Please bring your own water container to refill at aid stations.
Most importantly, NO LITTERING!!!
